"A cantora de soul e compositora inglesa Joss Stone lançará seu terceiro álbum, Introducing Joss Stone, em 20 de março, pela Virgin Records. Uma mistura eletrizante de soul vintage, R&B "anos 70", harmonias no estilo dos grupos femininos da Motown e ritmos de hip-hop, Stone descreve o disco como "Verdadeiramente eu. Por isso o título é Introducing Joss Stone [Apresentando Joss Stone]", ela diz. "Essas são as minhas palavras e quem eu sou como artista."
Querendo compor o álbum sozinha, Stone viajou para Barbados em abril visando criar as letras. A artista ficou por lá diversos meses antes de ir para as Bahamas a fim de unir-se a seu principal colaborador musical e produtor Raphael Saadiq (conhecido por seu trabalho com D'Angelo, The Roots e Macy Gray). "Raphael [que toca baixo no disco] é o músico mais incrível que eu já conheci", diz Stone. "É como se ele lesse musicalmente a minha mente. Olho para ele e ele já sabe exatamente o que quero." Stone e Saadiq passaram dois meses gravando nas Bahamas, e então mixaram as músicas no lendário estúdio Electric Lady, na cidade de Nova York.
Stone surgiu no cenário musical como uma extraordinariamente talentosa garota de 16 anos "rica, profunda, comovente", como descreveu o New York Post, a classificando como "diferente de qualquer cantora de sua geração". Em 2003, ela lançou The Soul Sessions, disco de covers de faixas soul, caiu na estrada por um ano e então gravou Mind, Body & Soul, seu primeiro álbum de material original. Stone foi indicada para três Grammies em 2005, incluindo Artista Revelação, e apresentou um tributo a Janis Joplin com Melissa Etheridge na cerimônia.
Ao longo de sua carreira, Stone também subiu nos palcos com James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Mavis Staples, Donna Summer, Smokey Robinson, Rob Thomas, John Mayer e John Legend."
